Review: Burgundy Rose Tea Room in Livermore

Last weekend I had the chance to visit the newly opened Burgundy Rose Tea Room with my friend ChibiJelly!

Burgundy Rose is located in Livermore, close to the premium outlet mall. This is a wonderful option for those who live in the Tri-Valley/East Bay region and don't feel like going into SF for tea. There's a lot of parking spaces available right outside and the building is within a strip mall.

There's lots of seating inside, I can see this being used for larger meetups or events. As I recall, each table can hold around 6-7 people and there's plenty of tables. The inside is very bright and open with plenty of space to move about, gorgeous crystal lighting overhead, marble-styled floors, and plenty of roses and beautifully framed art. The atmosphere is modern, clean, and elegant. In the future, I'd love to visit while wearing classic lolita!

Reservations are easy to book on their website as they use an online booking service, Toast.

Ambiance: 5/5

For the savory part of our tea, we were able to select two sandwich flavors with two pieces of each to share. We decided on the jerk chicken as well as a classic cucumber. The jerk chicken filling was so flavorful and moist with a mild amount of kick from the jerk seasoning. I highly recommend trying this sandwich if you get tea here. The cucumber was very refreshing and paired well with the jerk chicken.

We were also offered a side of either soup or salad. I chose a salad to avoid possible spills on my dress 😅 It was a nice garden salad with a variety of lettuces, cucumber, and tomato. There was also a bowl of fresh cut fruit on the side.

Savories: 5/5

The scones had the perfect texture in my opinion. Sometimes scones can be way too dry or crumbly, but not these scones. They had enough moisture that they held together well, but had a slight crust on the outside which made for a wonderful variation in texture. The clotted cream was incredibly creamy and thick, and the strawberry preserve was sweet and fruity. There also was a dollop of cream or butter with what tasted mildly citrusy. All paired very well with the scones. The only complaint I have is that I wish the scones were a touch larger! I wanted to enjoy more of the preserve and cream with them.

The dessert plate featured petit fours that were quite nice, a macaron that had a crisp outer shell and chewy inside, and the brownie was moist and chocolatey. All were really tasty!

Desserts: 4.5/5

We were able to choose two flavors of tea. We chose the tea that shares the same name as the tea room, which did not disappoint. It was a black tea with a rose flavor, very fragrant and lovely. The other option we chose was the cherry marzipan oolong which had a light marzipan flavor with a zing of cherry. Refills are endless and cream and sugar can be provided.

Tea: 5/5

The staff are so sweet, welcoming, and full of joy! We had fun chatting with them about lolita fashion, and the art that is around the tea room. We look forward to coming back to say hi!

The price for a 2 hour tea service is $45 per person, which I found to be very reasonable for the amount of food we received. If you are still feeling hungry, there's lots of a la carte options available for a fee.

If you are in the Tri-Valley area, I can't recommend Burgundy Tea Room enough! Please go support a new, small business. They are excited to see more lolitas visit.

Overall: 4.9/5
